EEG Tech Location: Edison, NJ Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,564 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 6 hours Contract Duration: 37 Weeks Start Date: 4/13/2026 About the Position Job Title: EEG Technician Profession: EEG Technician Specialty: - Duration: 37 Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required, inpatient and outpatient EEG experience preferred License: In process of obtaining ABRET registration Certifications: - Must-Have: High school diploma or equivalent Completion of program at an accredited EEG school Description: The EEG Technician is responsible for performing all varieties of electro neurophysiology monitoring as part of the Neurology or Epilepsy Surgery Program. This position operates the equipment of the EMU and processes data to be used to generate a report. Obtains medical seizure history from the patient including contraindications to proposed treatment. Educates patient and family about the procedure. Monitors the patient continuously during the procedure, reports seizure activity to the nursing staff, and responds appropriately to patient emergencies. Works with neurologists and neurosurgeons using various types of electrodes, both in the lab and in the operating room or other areas. Records electrophysiology data from the patient and makes adjustments, employs special montages as needed, focuses and adjusts the camera, and recognizes artifacts. Performs standard activation procedures to generate reports and reviews the data with the neurology epileptology physician. Provides in-service training for staff members. Maintains the electrophysiology monitoring unit equipment and network features in working condition and troubleshoots problems. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their developmentally appropriate level. Adheres to the standards identified in the organization's competencies. Must be open to covering varying shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
