Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is
seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Department of Medicine
within the New Jersey Medical School ( NJMS ). Under the direction
of the Principal Investigator, the Post-Doctoral Associate will
conduct genetic, microbiological, biochemical and animal studies to
identify compounds that inhibit or kill Mycobacterium tuberculosis
and to better understand their targets and mechanisms of action.
The Fellow will also investigate the cellular mechanisms of drug
synergy in M. tuberculosis. Among the key duties of this position
are the following: Cultures pathogenic viruses and quantitates
using plaque and TCID 50 assays. Maintains viral stocks and
confirms strain types by sequencing. Performs viral drug
susceptibility tests. Tests novel viral and bacterial diagnostic
assays. Assists in animal infection and treatment studies of both
viral and bacterial pathogens. Overview New Jersey’s academic

Preferred experience includes independent design and conduction of
genetic, microbiological, and metabolomic studies, experience
performing unsupervised work in the BSLIII on M. tuberculosis and
M. tuberculosis-infected mice, and ability to analyze
transcriptional and metabolomic experiments. Additional experience
in biochemistry preferred.
